Political risk assessments – tailored to your business or organisational needs, short term or long term. This can include everything from high-level (country or sector) assessments to micro-level, eg bespoke work on politically-exposed persons (PEPs).
Standard due-diligence, anti-money laundering and reputation risk, bespoke business intelligence and research on specific markets, sectors and issues, on one country or a combination of several or more.
Helping managers, board members and senior staff approach Africa risk management in simple, interactive, jargon-free day modules using case studies and open source techniques.
Helping you understand who you need to know, and who you don't, and how to navigate new (or established) markets effectively, ethically and legally.
We can tailor our services to meet your specific project needs, but here is a general sense of what we offer and a rough timeline for a delivery once commissioned.
To scope a potential investment, senior-level hire, business partner or sub-contractor; encompassing a public-records check in-country and internationally, including sanctions databases, etc. (7-14 days)
Decision Support Service. The same as level one, with the addition of more detailed, confidential reputational enquiries on the ground from informed local sources, plus a wider check of semi-public assessment of any political exposure, money-laundering risk, etc. (14-28 days)
For example, arbitration or litigation support: plus regular 'business intelligence' reporting and advice, designed (eg) to fit with an emerging public and media communications strategy. (usually l-3 months)
In the past, we have been asked to help with travel advice, identify potential local business partners, and support reputation protection activities, etc. NB: we do not to work with or for governments or political parties.
Specialised activities that we would usually develop with partners, combining our geographic specialism with their technical capabilities. (timelines will vary widely, depending on specific needs).
Especially useful for new market or sector entry, for example assessments of the 30 key influencers in a specific sector (encompassing business, politics, media, non-governmental and other stakeholders), and/or any inter-linkages between them, along with recommendations for prioritising relationship development. (14-28 days, depending on complexity of task)
Especially useful in fragile or semi-fragile states or countries in conflict, where clients have vulnerable personnel, assets, partners and/or suppliers (and opportunities). (Timelines will vary depending on need: usual model is one assessment every 7 days, supplemented by emergency alerts, eg if risk horizons evolve quickly.
Jargon-free introduction to senior management and boards on how and why (reputationally and legally) they need to take risk management seriously, how it costs them peanuts compared to the cost of clean-up and how to understand the options available to them, based on actual case-studies and practical examples. (Full-day training)
